April 24, 2025 – On April 22, 2025, the National CASA/GAL Association for Children received notice that the U.S. Department of Justice has terminated its federal grant awards. The Kentucky Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Network (KCN) and local CASA programs in Kentucky are separate entities from National CASA/GAL and are independent non-profit organizations.

CASA in Kentucky has a strong network of local programs supported and strengthened by the KCN. We are grateful for the investment of public funding and support from the Kentucky Legislature and Executive Branch. The work of the KCN and local CASA programs have been codified in Kentucky Statute since 1994, demonstrating the vital role CASA has in dependency, neglect, and abuse cases in the Commonwealth. CASA operations and services for children in Kentucky will continue with business as usual. In 2024, nearly 1,400 CASA volunteers served 3,376 children in 97 of Kentucky’s 120 counties.

We are grateful for the multitude of private funders and public resources that allow us to advance the CASA mission throughout Kentucky. Our work continues.

About the Kentucky CASA Network

The Kentucky CASA Network is the state association for Court Appointed Special Advocates, as recognized in the Kentucky Revised Statutes, with a mission to support the development, growth, and continuation of local CASA programs in Kentucky. CASA programs recruit and train volunteers to advocate on behalf of children who have come into the court system as a result of dependency, neglect, or abuse.
