Kentucky CASA Network Selected as Recipient of the National CASA Toy Foundation/Amazon Grant That Brings over 8,000 Toys to CASA Programs and Statewide Child Welfare Organizations to Kentucky

The Kentucky CASA Network (KCN) is pleased to share the results of a national grant opportunity which brought an abundance of holiday toys to needy children in the Commonwealth during the holiday season. The National CASA Association, the parent association of the Court Appointed Special Advocates Program selected the Kentucky CASA Network as one of the recipients of a grant opportunity from the Toy Foundation and Amazon.com.

Amazon customers from across the country had the opportunity to purchase toys to help a child in foster care during the holiday season. The KCN requested 2,700 toys, which was the number of children with a CASA volunteer in 2016. Due to the overwhelming generosity of Amazon customers, the KCN received over 4,500 individual packages during an 8-day span containing more than 8,000 individual toys with an estimated value of over $200,000. A mix of CASA program staff and Kentucky citizens volunteered many hours days before Christmas to unpack, sort, and distribute all of the toys to agencies and organizations who serve Kentucky’s most vulnerable – abused, neglected, and at-risk youth. The following is a list of all of the agencies statewide that received toys for the children they serve:
